It is nesting time (Jan-Mar) of the turtles. You might see female turtles on the beach on dark nights. They need about 30 minutes to dig a hole, lay the eggs (101 eggs/nest, on average) and cover them with sand before they return to the sea. Please: Do not go near them and avoid flashing light (in their direction) as these will disrupt the nesting process.
